10K in 55:35! This was my first time doing the Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope 1k! It's been three years since my last 10K event, and the course is relatively flat compared to the Sporting Life 10K. I was happy with my chip-time and thankful for the beautiful weather on the November morning!

Officially Graduated
November 19 2013

Today I put on the red robe and walked into Grant Hall at Queen's University to receive my doctoral degree. It was a beautiful ceremony and once called up to the stage, PhD graduates remained there - side by side with our professors for the rest of the ceremony.
This would not have been possible without the support of my wonderful supervisor and mentor, Dr. Michael Adams as well as my incredibly supportive family and friends.
I still feel like this is all a dream - I hope I don't wake up any time soon!

10K in 55:09! This was my third Sporting Life 10K to raise money for Camp Oochigeas and my fastest one yet!
Thank you to everyone who helped to support such a wonderful cause! Our final fundraising total for Camp Ooch was $640.
For my official race times from this year, 2011 and 2010 click on the links below. The net time is the time it took me to run the race starting from when I crossed the start line. The total time is from the race gun start but because there are over 20,000 people that run this race it can take awhile just to make it to the start line!

Mitacs Workshop (Foundations of Project Management) - Part Two
March 2013

After completing Part One of MITACS Foundations of Project Management Course I participated in Part Two for another two days.

Over the span of the 4 day course we covered topics such as project management principles and philosophy, team building, conflict management, project planning principles, basics of using Critical Path Method, risk analysis, roles of project leaders and providing positive feedback. It was a mix of lecture based learning and group discussion and participation.

It was a valuable experience in which I learned a lot of principles that I can apply to the projects I manage in the lab as well as breaking down large writing projects. Thank you MITACS!
